When expired domains enter the DropCatch system and have more than one backorder applied to them they go into public auction. Auctions are open for 3 days and end at 1 p.m. Mountain Time. To prevent auction "sniping", a new high bid placed within the last 5 minutes of the auction will shift the end time of the auction to 5 minutes from the time of the last bid.
Winning an Auction
DropCatch auctions are public, no-reserve auctions meaning anyone can bid. The highest bidder of an auction will win the domain. After DropCatch successfully receives payment, the winner of the auction is given immediate ownership rights and access to manage the domain.
All bids in DropCatch auctions are placed as proxy bids; the auction winner pays the second-highest bid plus a predefined bidding increment.
You must have an account with DropCatch.com / NameBright.com in order to participate in a domain auction. If you do not, you will be prompted to create an account. To participate in the auction, begin by placing a bid. When participants place bids, alerts and auction updates are automatically emailed. DropCatch does not share private information.
